We are a unique HYBRID model between an institution for learning, research and implementation. Our closest analogy is a Medical College Hospital where one would get a theoretical grounding of the science and also get hands-on-practise for developing the art.
We build Assessment Capacity
There is a Chinese proverb which says “give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for a lifetime”. If we need to build robust measurement mechanisms, it is important that capacity for assessments is built, else assessments will happen a few times with outsourced support, but it will not be sustainable in the long run. Our action plan for building capacity is multipronged and addresses the lacunae at systemic, institutional and individual level.
We provide courses in educational measurement and data driven decision making for students exploring a career in the field of education research.
We set up “assessment cells” in state institutions for large scale assessments, and equip with robust knowledge of theory and practice.
We build assessment literacy and data literacy of teachers for creating and analysing classroom assessments and carry out action research.
We research into the science of student learning
Improving student learning is NOT rocket science, it is proving to be difficult than rocket science. While better school resources, new curriculum, massive teacher training and higher frequency of assessments are effective in short run, they do not seem to bring lasting change. We carry out research into the when, what, why and how of learning through impact intervention studies in the cognitive and affective domain and by building improved psychometric methods.
Intervention Impact Studies
We take up baseline-end line studies, randomized controlled trials, cross sectional and longitudinal surveys to understand patterns and impact in student learning.
Cognitive & Affective Learning
Our research unpacks social and emotional learning, explores learning cognition and approaches, understands the teacher and learner in the learning process.
We improve the power and effectiveness of assessments, and forge new paths in psychometric research leveraging psychology, statistics, education and technology.
We Build Open Source Tools
What we are striving for, is a fundamental shift in the behaviour of stakeholders in the system to approach learning diagnostically and to build insights into the learning process. We believe that behavioural shift is aided by conducive external conditions, one of which is the availability and accessibility to resources that supports the new behaviour. Our open resources and tools will add strength to the cause of diagnostic measurement of learning and drive data based decision making in the classroom.
Our large scale assessment papers are scientifically developed following the test development cycle as per the psychometric standards and international best practices.
Our question banks are built with expert guidance by trainees undergoing our training courses. These support the teachers in their assessment strategies for the classroom.
Our data tools enable easy analysis and visualisation of learning data. They empower the stakeholders by improving data literacy and promotes use of data for decision making.
